Our three Easter Seals summer camps have grown into a principle service offered by the BC Lions Society. Summer camping experiences have long been recognized by educators as providing unique social learning environments for children and Easter Seals Camps have been leaders in accessible camping in BC for more than 30 years. Each of our camps provides accessible facilities and programs that would prevent some children from full participation at other camps. The more than 900 children who attend our camps each summer “challenge each other and challenge themselves” in a camping community that embraces the beauty of diversity. During the off-season, schools and other groups are welcome to rent the facilities for their own events.
In addition to our three Easter Seals Camps, we also run two Easter Seals Houses where children and their family members can stay while getting essential medical treatment in Vancouver and Victoria. We also support the Lions Laser Skin Centre at Vancouver General Hospital, Child Development Centres around the province, the Lions Helipad at Vancouver General Hospital, Easter Seals Buses and Patient Care Grants, which provide financial assistance to families of children with special needs.
