Shadow Volunteers

Shadow Program: This program is designed for young leaders who have attended a summer camping program and most probably a Leader-In-Training (LIT) Program (however, there may be some exceptions with this requirement.) This is not an extension of the summer camping program, rather it is designed to offer young people who have demonstrated exceptional leadership potential opportunity to further develop and mature as leaders by taking on active volunteer roles during a weeklong summer camping session. Individuals interested in this type of opportunity must apply online.

They will participate in the same interview as staff applicants. This is a rigorous process due to the nature of our program and the demands made on staff and volunteers to provide and ensure the highest possible camper care at all points. Applicants should also consider the following prior additional experience: community involvement, experience working with children, letters of reference from other related experiences and a personal letter of introduction. As there are limited Shadow positions available each summer, we encourage young leaders to gain as much experience as possible from as many programs as possible.

We strongly recommend that Easter Seals campers have participated in our Leader-In-Training program to be considered for a Shadow opportunity. We also suggest gaining a summer’s experience volunteering or talking a leadership program at another summer camp prior to applying back to Easter Seals Camps. If you have questions about this program, please contact the Administrator at 604-873-1865 or 1-800-818-4483 or by email: camp@lionsbc.ca. The minimum age for a Shadow is 18 years old.
