Campers are encouraged to be their finest in a secure, Christian community while camping in a beautiful waterfront island environment.
Youth praise Camp Artaban is amazing, and grownups regard it as heaven. It was a chance to camp in a distinctive seaside island location where campers are encouraged to achieve their greatest.
Since 1923, Camp Artaban has provided Christian camping steeped in Anglican traditions on Gambier Island in Howe Sound, making it one of British Columbia’s earliest campsites. Bishop Heathcote led a group of pastors and entrepreneurs in site selection, and the first camping was conducted in 1923.
Campers and baggage were transported from Vancouver by Union Steamship and dropped off on a little floating dock in the center of the water. They were canoed to the encampment and slept in tents there.
